Why we built Hably Flow
Honestly? I built it for me. I'm Scott, the founder of Hably Software Ltd, and Hably Flow exists because I kept falling into the negative productivity loop, that destructive cycle of distraction, overcommitment and overwhelm that quietly erodes your output.
I'd spent more time than I'd like to admit trying to piece together a system that could capture information, make my priorities clear, and connect the two without overloading my day. A second brain and a life scheduler, working together.
Over the years I've paid a heavy monthly price for SaaS productivity apps trying to get there. Todoist and TickTick were solid task managers. Akiflow and Morgen were great at scheduling. Capacities came close as a flexible notes app, just not close enough. Note-taking shouldn't be rocket science, but the Notions and ClickUps of the world felt bloated and demanded too much setup time to build a system that matched the way my brain actually works.
Hably Flow was built as a low-cost alternative that would help me overcome my struggles with productivity and the anxiety that came with getting distracted and feeling buried by commitments. I'm a reasonably capable person, but my inability to consistently deliver focused, high-quality work has undoubtedly held me back. I suspect I'm not alone in that.
Hably Flow understands you and has your back
Hably Flow is designed to help you focus on what matters today:
- The Planner lets you spread your workload across time. It gives you a visual overwhelm indicator if you're trying to cram too much into a single day.
- Week view helps you plan your week, then narrow your focus to just today, blocking distracting apps at the same time.
- The Pinboard gives you a place to capture useful information and ideas without acting on them immediately. It doesn't have to be right now.
- The AI agent learns how you work and offers advice to help you plan and prioritise (coming soon).
Hably Flow is a system of control
Hably Flow connects your information to your time. You're in complete control. We know that distractions and overwhelm are the enemy of quality output, so every feature is designed to help you focus on the one thing you need to work on right now, and what comes next after that. Hably Flow is feature-based, so it can be as simple as a task manager or as powerful as a full life organiser. You decide how far to take it.
Hably Flow is something you own, not rent
We're as frustrated as you are by the ever-growing subscription economy, renting access to your own data and being at the mercy of a company's balance sheet. We believe you should be able to enjoy core product features by buying them once and not be obliged to pay for anything periodically.
We offer a generous free version of Hably Flow and a one-off cost for Group or Pro access. We may decide to offer added-value features on subscription down the line, but they won't be core to the Hably Flow experience. A subscription will only exist to fund an ongoing service that adds genuine convenience and tangible value to your life.
